This is the rough draft scenes for our movie.
When it comes to lighting, we're using the natural lighting that comes from the school atmosphere. We also focus on brightening the lightning whenever there's a thought bubble around a specific character to emphasize their thoughts. Especially when they meet the main girl in the story, Jahnya.. And as the editor, it is my role to maintain the color and lighting continuity. For example, example cuts between Christian and Janiya must match in tone and both perspectives must feel like part of the same moment.
By carefully managing the lighting in color, we can ensure that each scene not looks appealing, but also communicates to an emotional level of the story. These visual elements help with pacing sound and shot composition to create a polished engaging film.
In our film, the setting of school provides a good soundscape to draw from for example we use chatter from other students to make it feel like a more live school and realistic. We also use dialogue between the different cast members to drive the plot and emotional beats. We also use that to pay close attention to the timing and audio levels during the editing so the lines are easier to hear and reactions are emphasized.
We also use thoughts to create a more intense, feeling of what the characters are thinking during and after they meet each other. I'm the editor so I also have to implement all the sound into the film to ensure that the audience can follow the characters experience and maintain a realism environment.
The soundscape is not only about the school setting in it feeling authentic. It's also about creating a more romantic element in the story through careful audio dialogue and timing.
When it comes to scheduling a lot of our cast members don't have a lot of extra time, but when we do, we gather around our location so we can start filming in the school hallways. By carefully organizing our schedule, we can minimize wasted time, reduce stress on casting crew members and ensure that the footage that we craft is polished by the final edit. We can also effectively schedule to everybody's needs based on the time that everybody has so that it's not too stressful for anybody.
And even when one of the cast members can't be there, we can still shoot scenes where at least two of the cast members are there and there's also solo scenes so if there's only one person that can make it, they can still shoot their scene.
In our film, the location that we chose was the school this is because it's familiar to all of the cast members and the situation for the storyline relates to the schools environment, making it perfect for social dynamics and romantic tension between the characters. It's also easily accessible and it allows our team to capture multiple scenes effectively reducing the travel time needed to go to different locations. The hallway is also create a natural opportunity for close-ups reaction, shots, and easier editing.
My carefully choosing the school as our location, we create a grounded relatable setting that's supposed to romantic element of the story effective vocation scouting also insured that the shots we receive in post production or visually good making it easier to craft and edit the scene into the final film.
In our film, we casted Christian a thoughtful, shy person that reacts naturally awkward to situations. Gianni, a confident, social humorous person which creates a contrast with Chris. And Janiya, the friendly approachable, independent person who serves as the romantic interest for both of them.
These casting decision shape the story, for example Christian, subtle facial expressions in timing of dialogue, require careful editing to emphasize his attraction to her Gianni's exaggeration gestures and attitude, need pacing and short reaction to highlight the comedic elements of the scene.
Also, I learned a good casting creates chemistry between the actors which is essential and drama and romance, and as the editor I enhance this chemistry by emphasizing natural interactions.
In our film Just Friends, the story revolves Chris and Gianni who both notice the same girl Jahnya at school. Shania's character represents confidence independence these qualities that are important for creating a believable and relatable interest. By comparing Christian and Gianni each represent different aspects of teenage experiences. Christian is slightly shy and Gianni is confident and social.
As editor in our film, just friends my role is to take the raw footage of our scenes and shape it into the story adding is not just about cutting is also about pacing timing and highlighting the moment I use a script as a guide to focus on our pacing between scenes and also using the script to my advantage as there's a time jump between the two characters at the beginning meeting and the two characters later meeting.
As the edited in the group, I realize I need to take the lead in organizing our material planning on how the film will come together visually one of the biggest challenge was creating a storyboard and shoot list without relying on everyone being available at the same time at first I suggested each member start their own storyboard so that we can merge ideas during meetings. Unfortunate. This didn't work out as planned.
Taking this initiative as the editor I've been able to to move the project further despite scheduling challenges, ensuring that visual story is good and found in foundation that will be collaborative and more effective than group meetings. It also helped me develop my skills in shock planning, and critically thinking about how visual elements like color, composition and shot selection can influence the film.

I learned that Narrative structure is a way a story is organized and how it plays a role in guiding the audience through the films, emotional and dramatic journey, especially in drama and romance films, where the structure helps viewers understand characters, relationships, emotional mistakes, and conflicts in the story.
Editors, playing a role in narrative structure by controlling the pace, sequencing and timing which ensures the emotional beeps land effectively, especially when cuts, close-ups and parallel editing help create attention within the story this highlights the characters reactions and maintains the audiences engagement. Our film ensures that story, flow smoothly, and it creates an emotional journey for the views.

When researching about title sequence, I learned that it's very important because it introduced the audience to the tone genre and mood of the film while giving credit to the people involved in his creation, although all title sequences serve a base purpose. Filmmakers can choose to present them and creative ways to support the story rather than distract from it, especially in drama and romance, films or title sequences are often subtle and emotionally driven, helping ease the audience into the narrative.
Many romance and drama films opening titles are integrated with calm, visuals every day locations or emotional imagery. This is help to create a peace setting around the topic of the romance film. The credits appear simple and don't overpower the scene allow the audience to focus on the emotional rather than the words.

In films sound is a crucial element because it helps shape mood, emotion, and meaning and in drama and romance, genres sound is especially important because it supports emotional storytelling and helps the audience connect with characters on an emotional level. Sound is usually divided into dialogue, Sound effects, and music.
Dialogue is one of the most important elements in the drama and romance films. Conversations often drive the story forward and revealed the true intentions and emotions of the characters in the film. This allows the scene to feel more real in editors, often allow, pauses or silence between lines to emphasize attention, making the dialogue feel more realistic and emotional.

In drama, enrollments films, mise-en-sćene it is important because it helps communicate emotions, relationships, and themes visually. Often without relying on heavy dialogue it is careful control of mess that allows filmmaker to create intimacy and emotional depth in drama and romance films.
Lighting is often important and natural to create a warm emotional atmosphere for example. Call me by your name, uses natural sunlight, and colors to emphasize realism and vulnerability between characters. In creating a relaxed, lighting, that supports emotional tone and allows the audience to focus on the expressions and interaction between the characters.
Our setting is the school for our film, we chose this so that we can use a familiar space to use our film . Using this location we know well so we can focus on the more storytelling and kick their interaction with each other other than struggling to find something unfamiliar. Also our film involves two guys meeting the same girl and they think that she looks pretty. So we can use the storyline of the meeting in school as something to help character development and create tension. Our scenes are plan to be in the hallways of the school so that we can easily navigate through different encounters.
Also the plot centers on two guys who both meet the same girl at school and are immediately drawn to her because they think she is pretty. This simple situation creates the foundation for character development and potential tension, as their shared interest introduces competition and different reactions between the two boys.
Overall, the school setting strings are filmed by drowning the story in a believable space with allowing the audience to relate to the characters experiences. It also gives us advantages such as easy access to location in natural lighting, making our film, both effective and achievable.
I did some research on common psychology in drama and romance films. It often includes intimate scenes such as bedroom, car cafés, and outdoor locations like beaches and fields objects such as letters, photographs, phones and personal belongings are frequently used to represent a connection to something or a memory, for example, in the notebook there is an image of a lake that is costly reoccurring and there's also handwriting letters that symbolize love. The editor emphasizes the symbols by using them to influence key emotional moments throughout the film.
Learning that Drama romance films often rely on character stereotypes to help audience to quickly understand relationships, the conflict and their emotional status. These steel types are often not negative instead they are shortcuts that allow viewers to emotionally connect with the characters in the film early on. Editors play an important role in the stereotypes because they can change the pacing the short selection and the emphasis on the reactions that they have emotionally. For example, it's shown in La La Land where the film uses great emphasis on the reactions to show tension and conflict.
Some editors who became legendary that I've learned about is Walter Murch who edited Apocalypse now, and this is a famous for its sound and editing of images. Somebody I also learned about is Thelma Schoonmaker she edited great films by using rhythm and tension through precise cuts. These editors demonstrated the admin can be defined as a film style and can use emotion to help drama and romance films, greatly benefit from editors who can time the scenes to help the emotional impact of the film. Also can be seen in films like the "Titanic".
Researching about different techniques, used in drama and romance has shown me that there's various techniques you can use to enhance the drama and romance cross cutting can build between the two story lines. Wow also condensing to show the character development in the romance, progression, close-up, capture, subtle emotion, no expressions, and pacing also can determine how the audience perceives the movie for example in "Atonement". The editor uses careful sequencing to show the height and emotion and attention that it creates between the characters. These techniques can help ensure that the people viewing your film. Enjoy it.
I also learned film editors need a combination of technique in creative skills technically editors use software like Adobe, premiere, pro Final Cut Pro, and Avi media composer to cut range and refined footage. And as an editor, you also have to pay attention to detail in your ability to solve problems and collaborate with the directors and cinematographers are also important editors, working in drama and film, like my film need to focus on the emotional impact in the reaction of the shots and lingering moments. Also, an example of this is seen in "The Notebook".
